Flute Position

Well, I'm sitting in English Class bored out of my mind so here's a post about the position of your Instrument.

you're going to want to start with the embrouchure hole lined up with the first key down. It helps to look up the flute to do this. Make sure that when you bring your flute to your mouth you move nothing but your arms. The flute should come up and meet your mouth, not the other way around.

In order to place your flute in good position to your mouth, (not rolled in or out too much.) you want to hold the flute in both hands so it's resting in the curve between your thumb and pointer finger. You should be able to position your flute so that it's balanced, not tipping foreward or back. When you've got it level you can then bring it up to your mouth.
